Audrey Tautou
Audrey Tautou, the oldest of four siblings was born on August 8, 1976 in Beaumont Puy-de Domme. The actress was inspired by her parents, dentist, and a teacher who both taught her to follow her love of theatre. This was in contrast her earlier ambition to be a primatologist due to the fact that she loved monkeys. The early success of her career and the rapid increase in recognition marked her as a young actor. In 1998, after completing her degree she was invited to participate in Jeunes Premiers, a French TV talent-scouting programme sponsored by Canal+. There she received the award for best Young Actress in Beziers Festival of Young Actors. The result was that she decided to begin her professional career as an actor. Though she was a student at the Institut Catholique de Paris and attended church in her youth Tautou has stayed away from this upbringing, stating that she's not Catholic. She pursued a modelling career in addition to her acting work and is the face of L'Oreal Mont Blanc and Chanel is often called the Chanel Muse. A keen photographer, she has recently exhibited during The Arles International Festival entitled Superficial. Her photography is focused on celebrity, fame and the press that scrutinised her following her rise to fame as Amelie. There are also numerous photographs of herself. Audrey Tautou shot to stardom and global fame after her first major role starring as a lead character in Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie Poulain. Amelie received international recognition due to its success at the box office. It also received praise in award ceremonies all over the globe. Amelie is the most successful film that is French-speak in the US. Following this success Tautou starred in a wide range of movies ranging that ranged from British dramas like Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things to Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Un long dimanche of fiancailles. She then moved to Hollywood under the direction of Ron Howard of The Da Vinci Code, a Dan Brown bestseller The Da Vinci Code alongside Tom Hanks.
