April Lockhart

April Lockhart is a born July 4 in 1995. In the seventh grade, she started taking piano and guitar lessons. That ignited her enthusiasm for songwriting. April Lockhart penned her first track, Different at the age 12 years old. In her 14th year April spent a lot of her time creating and playing with songs. Over the next few months, she started taking notes with her father to LA as well as NY. April also began to include additional topics that were related to of her friends dealing with issues such as social pressure and teen suicide in the song Take my Hand. Lockhart is an influencer in the beauty and lifestyle industry with an ever-growing following. She works with popular brand Ilia in partnership, as well as being an expert in the field of lifestyle. Her birth was without a left hand and that is an aspect of her identity, but it's hardly her whole story. Lockhart does not deny that she has a disability on Instagram, but she does not make it the main focus of it. The point? We all have multiple aspects and that we are all unique and we're greater than the physical person we are. Lockhart has stated on video that she does not want to be defined solely by her handicap. She doesn't wish to become an advocate for disabled people who only talks about that. There are a lot of aspects of Lockhart. However, it doesn't affect my everyday life. I continue to do my normal activities and I've adapted to my disability. But it's also a part of me, so I believe that it's crucial to speak about. Lockhart's self-acceptance journey will be one that lasts a lifetime, but she has been a source of inspiration in this regard. She still admits having gone through a series of phases with her physique, feeling uncomfortable in certain situations wearing clothing that displayed her arms. She now wears any outfit she likes and uploads photos on Facebook with pride. Self-love she said is a process. "I do not think that you'll ever get there," she said.
